Summary :
Harriet Tubman was born a slave, his parents named him Araminta “Minty” Ross. He changed his name in 1849 when he fled. She adopted the name Harriet after her mother and the last name Tubman after her husband. Tubman suffered a head injury as a teenager that resulted in dreaming and hallucinations, in addition to a sleep spell. She is deeply religious and it is her religious beliefs that give her the courage to save friends and family time and time again. He remained illiterate all his life.
Harriet Tubman is the most famous conductor of the Underground Railroad. Within a decade he guided more than 300 slaves to freedom; abolitionist William Lloyd Garrison thought he deserved the nickname "Moses". He worked hard to save up to return and save more slaves. In time, he built a reputation and many of the Underground Railroad supporters provided him with funds and shelter to support his travels.
During the Civil War, Tubman served as a nurse, cook, laundry, spy, and scout. After the Emancipation Proclamation he returned to Auburn where he lived the rest of his life. He opened his doors to those in need. With donations and proceeds from her vegetable garden, she is able to support herself and the people she helps. She raised money to open schools for African-Americans and gave speeches on women's rights. Her dream was to build a nursing home and in 1908 the Harriet Tubman Nursing Home was inaugurated.
What I learned?
Be mindful of your dreams. Harriet was often foretold how to sidestep dangers in hers. Keep a journal beside your bed to write them down.keep-going
What difficulties that I face while listening to the recording ?
I have a little bit problem with these videos. The words they used sometimes do not understand, but is okay.
