Scotland is not a large country and does not have a large population but there are many Scotland's famous and important, here are five of them. Robert Adam 1728 to 1792 made some of the finest buildings in Great Britain in the second half of the 1700s, he went to schools and universities in Edinburgh and then to Rome for five years to study about the buildings there. Then he returned to England, he worked in the new city in Edinburgh and you can see the buildings by him in charlotte square, there are many beautiful buildings by Adam in England and Scotland people came from all over Europe and America to see it.
David Hume 1711 to 1776 was a great thinker and writer who still reads and talks about his books today because they are so important. He also wrote a very long history of England at that time, the most important book of this kind of hume entered the university of Edinburgh. When he was 12 years later he went to France and made friends with famous French thinkers such as voltaire and russo. His most important book was a treatise on human nature 1739-1740.
The next great Scot was Robert Burns 1759-1796 scots called him Robbie or rabbi burns, he was born into a poor rural family the oldest of seven children near Air in southwest Scotland. He started writing poetry when he was a child he wrote about important things about life and loving the rich and poor and Scottish. His words still speak to us today and many Scots love his poetry. Burns was born on January 25th and that night is called Burn Night by the Scots. On the night of burns there is a special dinner not only in Scotland but for Scottish people in other countries as well they eat haggis whiskey, a Scottish food drink, and recite poetry with burns and at midnight. On December 31st in many english speaking countries people sing the words burns. When they sing langseinlama, the song's name means something like a long time ago.
James 1736-1819 was born in Greenheck near Glasgow and did not go to school often. When he was a kid he stayed at home and his mother was his teacher who was a quick thinker and he liked to build things with his hands. He got a job building things for teachers at the university of Glasgow there, he became interested in steam engines he started a business with his friend Matthew Bolton, and from 1794 to 1824 they made 1164 steam engines. This engine changed England and the world after what the world was a different place.

University and became a doctor but he didn't make much money as a doctor so he
started wrote a story about a detective named Sherlock Holmes soon Sherlock
Holmes was famous, and Conan Doyle became rich and famous also he wrote many
stories about Holmes and his friend Dr. Watson and also wrote a story about a
man named Sherlock Holmes.
